Welcome

Welcome to the Kendrick School Sixth Form website

We are extremely proud of the academic and personal achievements of all the students in our Sixth Form.  Not only do the students enjoy impressive examination results that place us as one of the best state schools in the country, but they repeatedly amaze us with their sporting success, musical prowess and other individual achievements.  The Sixth Form are excellent role models for the rest of the school and they actively participate in many aspects of the school life of students in years 7 to 11. Our new Sixth Form block houses the whole school library; four Sixth Form teaching spaces and a common room area for year 13 with a roof terrace.

Our Sixth Form is highly oversubscribed.  There are approximately 125 students in each of years 12 and 13, with around 30-40 external admissions each year.  In year 12, students study four subjects at AS level and most take three subjects onto the full A level in year 13.  Alongside this we have an exciting enrichment programme which was extended for our September 2010 intake.  This enrichment programme offers students the opportunity to study a two-year course in GCSE Spanish or GCSE Ancient Greek; AS Critical Thinking (which can be taken to the full A level in year 13); the Community Sports Leadership Award; or the AQA Extended Project which is opted for at the end of year 12.

Additional enrichment opportunities for the students include: leadership of and participation  in House events; extensive prefect system operating across the whole school in a variety of roles; outreach work with our soft federation partners of Reading Girls School and local primary schools; mentoring with peers and younger years; membership of Sixth Form council and School council; year 12 pantomime, enjoyed by the whole school each Christmas; physical education opportunities; subject related trips, visits and conferences; debating team; choirs and music ensembles; charity fundraisers; green group; clubs for younger years; subject specific challenges and competitions; fair-trade stall; True Adventure expeditions every two years.
