Book Club Celebrates Harry Potter Book Night

Thursday 1st February saw the transformation of the Library into a more atmospheric setting for a lunchtime Harry Potter party. Special book bunting, flying envelopes and a variety of Hogwarts signs that had been made by book club members were used to decorate the area and the way in via Platform 9 3/4 was created from a shower curtain!

As the 40 students arrived, they took their turn to sit on the special stool and put on the Sorting Hat to be sorted into the Hogwarts houses of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. While the sorting was supervised by Sanjana and Neha, there was time to test yourself on Fantastic Beast Word Searches, Dragon Spotting and Spot the Difference activities as well as Spell & Wand Motion Practice with breadstick wands.

Once the Sorting Ceremony was complete and everyone was wearing their house tie the team games could begin. With much excitement and true competitive spirit, the teams of students had to test their dexterity picking up Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans with chopsticks, show their understanding of Spells and Charms, discover their own Magical Names and finally test their knowledge of Harry Potter’s Fantastic Beasts in the Team Quiz.

It was an extremely close contest but as the bell for the end of lunchtime sounded, the Ravenclaw team were declared the winners. There was just time for the presentation of the Hogwarts Trophy and a group photo before everyone had to dash off to registration and sadly not Transfiguration, Herbology or Potion lessons!
