A huge congratulations to the KS 3 Badminton team that got through to the National Finals at the National Badminton Centre in Milton Keynes.

The girls involved were:
Smrithi Shirol
Alicia Houghton
Krishaa Pillairiya
Priya Lakshmi-Narasimha
Adithi Balaji

The day was made up of the top 9 schools split into 3 groups. The first round was made up of games against the other 2 teams in the group. The 1st match was against Sheffield Girls High School,

All of the student played well and we won that match 4-1 with some excellent performances from all of the students. The second match was always going to be a tough one against last year’s winners Arden Academy. The girls fought hard but were just beaten 3-2. This meant the second round of games were against all of the teams that came 2nd in their group fighting for 4th, 5th and 6th place. The first match was against Outwood Valley School which was a close game but we came through victorious winning 3-2. The second match was against Nonsuch High School where we won convincingly 4-1. During the day the girls had the opportunity to meet Anthony Clark, one of GB’s highest performing Badminton players where the girls were able to ask him questions about his training and playing days, with one student even having the opportunity to play a 3 point game against him, which of course she won!

The whole day was an amazing experience for the students and a huge achievement with the end result of coming 4th in the whole country.

The students should be very proud of their achievements and should continue to enjoy their training, and maybe we will be there again next year.
