    • House University Challenge

      This week, students throughout the school have been putting their general knowledge to the test in our House University Challenge.  There was fierce competition amongst the Houses with the final taking place on Thursday between the Sidmouth University Team and the Cedars Challenge Team.  After a tense round of difficult questions the team that came out on top was… Sidmouth! 

      Congratulations to Medha, Inakshi, Ayami and Nandini on claiming the title for Sidmouth and ending an eight-year Cedars streak.

    • House Poetry Competition

      Earlier this year the House Committee introduced House Poetry with the inaugural theme of “Community”.  At Kendrick, our community is an integral part of school life, particularly for our houses, and the House Committee wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate it and all it contributes to our school.  Especially during these trying times, we gratefully acknowledge the Kendrick community for supporting our students in our everyday lives.

    • Languages for Wellness

      On Sunday 26th September, it was European Language Day, which is celebrated in order to promote awareness of the importance of language in our community.  To commemorate this special event, the Goethe Institut in London had hosted a 'Languages for Wellness' competition.  Participants had to write a paragraph outlining how languages can have an impact on our wellbeing.  A week ago, I had received a letter from the Institution to say I had won the competition!  In the box, there was also some German goodies including a bullet journal, a PE bag, some earphones and more!

    • Rememberance Day

      On Sunday the 14th of November 2021, a service was held in the Reading School Chapel to remember those from the Armed Forces who lost their lives in conflicts.  As part of the
      Combined Cadet Force (CCF), Ishika, Simran and Sixuan attended the service. The Reverend focused on how the service was held not to glorify war, but to commemorate those who were involved, suffered and lost their lives. He reminded us how we as a community could better the world around us.

    • Opening of Horizons Building by the Right Honourable, Theresa May

      On Friday afternoon we welcomed the Right Honourable Mrs Theresa May, MP for Maidenhead, to Kendrick School on the occasion of our grand opening of the Horizons Building. Mrs May spent one and half hours with us and spoke to the whole school in an assembly about her career and journey in education and politics. Mrs May’s address was engaging and interesting and she talked about being a constituency MP, as well as her time as Prime Minister between 2016-19.

      While world leaders have been meeting in Glasgow at COP 26 to discuss climate change and the urgent need for action, 12 Year 12 A level Geography students took part in a mock UN Climate Change Conference organised by InterClimate Network on Wednesday 10th of November. The event took place in Reading’s Council Chamber.
