German
Year 11 at the Christmas Market trip
The German Department consistently performs well in public examinations. We prepare large numbers of girls for the GCSE and AS/A2 examinations.
We emphasise personalised learning and give individual support.
We aim to use a variety of up-to-date materials to teach well-planned and interesting lessons.
Our regular visits to Germany include a KS3 trip to the Rhineland, KS 4 and 5 visit to the Christmas Market in Aachen and in the 6th Form we also travel to Düsseldorf and Berlin.
Klasse 7E enjoys a German breakfast
In KS3 and 4 the topics we study include:
Describing people, myself and family,
Leisure activities, food and drink
School, money, Health, Daily Routine,
Travelling in Germany, The World of Work.
We try to enhance the girls’ learning by using ICT and media in the classroom. We also organise practical tasks which the girls very much enjoy.
Year 13 on a residential in Cold Ash preparing for their A2 oral examination.
AS/A Level
The Edexcel Course includes the following topics : Relationships, leisure, politics, the EU, healthy living, the environment, technology, the developing world, history. Trips
We currently run a work experience exchange with our partner school, the Ceciliengymnasium in Düsseldorf
We also do a study trip to Berlin
To prepare for the speaking examination we take the Year 13 students on a residential trip. Results Most of our AS and A2 students achieve an A or B grade in their examination.
