AS and A2 Results Day 2017 – Thursday 17th August

A2 results – 8am to 9am

AS results – 9am to 10am

Location:  First Floor, 6th Form Block (please refer to the email sent to students on 6th June 2017)

We very strongly advise that you come in to school on results day to collect your envelope, even if you have received some, or all, of your results online.  This will enable you to celebrate with us and your friends if it is good news, but will also enable you to access the support on offer in school, if your results are not quite as you had hoped.

In some circumstances in Year 13 we will need to fax unit results to universities to confirm grades and if you are in the unfortunate position of not meeting the grades required for your firm or insurance choices, you may need to enter clearing.  This can be a stressful process and staff and friends will be by your side at school to support you in your search for a university place.

Uncollected results envelopes will only be posted home if you have handed Miss McDiarmid an address label or envelope (minimum A5 size) and a stamp in advance.

Sixth Form Registration

Registration for the Sixth Form is on Friday 25th August 2017 between 10.00am and 12.00 noon. This morning is compulsory for all students joining Kendrick School Sixth Form in September 2017, unless there are exceptional circumstances and other arrangements have been made.

Kendrick Parents’ Society

The KPS would like to thank everyone for their support this year.  As we draw to the end of the summer term we are looking back at one of the most successful fund raising years the KPS has ever had – over £19k raised.  The Spring Raffle raised over £11k with an additional £1,600 from generous donations from parents and £3.5K matched funds from parents who are employees of Vodafone and National Grid.  We ran a successful cinema afternoon for Year 7, an Opera Evening for parents and students, a fun day for the new Year 7’s due to start in September and numerous refreshment stalls at school events.

This year KPS agreed to fund equipment/resources for all departments where the budget wasn’t able to cover all the required needs and so far, we have contributed £17k to the school for this purpose. Our significant spend this year has been the funding of 32 new HP chrome books for use by languages/maths departments and 20 science data loggers for the Sciences.  The need for chrome books was originally identified by the girls themselves and we were happy to support it once school ratified the need.  The rest of our contribution has been spent on microscopes for Biology, oscilloscopes for Physics, field equipment for Geography, digital cameras for the Art Department, food mixers for Food Technology, new goals for PE, sewing machine for Product Design, equipment for the Music Department, resources for History and Economics, plus additional books/journals for the Library. In addition, we were also pleased to be able to support the School by sponsoring the House events, contributing towards the School Birthday, careers evening, and other school clubs attended by the students.

We would be delighted to welcome any new members to the KPS and to be even more successful in 2017/18.  We need help from as many parents at the school as possible, whether you are able to offer your time, raffle prizes, a service or area of expertise, fund raising ideas, corporate matching, silent auction prizes and of course attending our events. Please reach out to secretary.kps.uk@gmail.com; we would love to hear from you.

I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank the KPS committee for their dedication and hard work raising funds, a great team!

Thank you for your ongoing support of Kendrick Parents’ Society and our shared goals to make Kendrick School the best it can be for the students.

Please enjoy the summer break with your family and friends and don’t forget, when you are shopping, please use THE GIVE AS YOU LIVE site.  Many thanks.

Sue Bannister, KPS Chair

Safeguarding

Balancing the various demands parents have to cope with isn’t easy and all parents can come under pressure or stress from time to time.

This NSPCC guide shares practical advice and tips for positive parenting techniques that work well for children – from babies to teenagers. These techniques encourage better behaviour and help parents find out what works for them and their child.

The guide is also a valuable resource for services and professionals offering parenting advice to new parents and those caring for young children or teenagers
