In the Autumn of 2017, two Year 9 students, Anwita and Abi, organised an initiative to help celebrate Kendrick School's 140th birthday. Each form group received several blank cards which they filled in with an inspirational quote. In total there were 140 quotes which were displayed around the school with the purpose of promoting happiness and well-being in the school community.

Abi and Anwita were nominated for an Berkshire Masonic School Charity Award for this initiative and chose MIND as the charity to which to donate the £30 cheque they received. 

They chose this charity because they thought the messages of the quotes linked into the aims of MIND, which are to support people who are experiencing mental health problems. "We know that anxiety and stress are very common problems in young people, and we hoped that our quotes managed to make people smile".

Their favourite quote was "Use your smile to change the world, but never let the world change your smile".
