Maths Challenge Results

The Mathematical Challenges are a timed, multiple-choice competition aimed at students across the UK.  It encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems.  The problems are designed to make students think.  Most are accessible, yet still challenge those with more experience.

Before Christmas Year 12 and 13 took part in the Senior Maths challenge.  In Year 12 and 13, there were 13 Gold, 22 Silver and 36 Bronze certificates.

Adishree qualified for the 2.5 hour British Mathematical Olympiad Round 1 paper.

More recently Year 9, 10 and 11 took part in the Intermediate Maths challenge.  0verall there were 39 Gold, 87 Silver and  91 Bronze certificates.  An incredible 61 students have qualified for the follow on Kangaroo rounds. 

Two students in Year 9, Hasita and Arushi  have   qualified for the Cayley Olympiad and two in Year 11, Ishika and Anya for the Maclaurin Olympiad.  Only 600 students nationally are invited to take part in each of these rounds.
