Remembrance Day Commemoration
At a whole school assembly this morning, we remembered the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life through the many wars and conflicts. We remembered the Armed Forces, and their families, from Britain and the Commonwealth, the vital role played by the emergency services and those who lost their lives as a result of conflict or terrorism.
Students in the 6th Form, Darja, Rosie, Janelle and Ellie, spoke about the symbols of Remembrance, the red poppy, but also other poppies that can be and are worn: purple, black and white poppies.
The assembly ended with a quiet moment of refection, remembering loved ones that have died and who we mourn, including our student Sahana who died earlier this year. Ms Kattirtzi finished by saying that at Kendrick, our strong values and beliefs, remind and encourage us to be kind and respectful to one another, to be tolerant and understanding. In all we do, let’s endeavour to live these values in our daily lives so that we can live in peace with one another.
