U18 Hockey at Bradfield

On Wednesday 26th September the under 18 Hockey team piled in the mini bus to go to Bradfield for the outdoor counties. Having practised indoor religiously but outdoor only once we weren’t entirely confident, but our spirits and hopes were high. Unfortunately, our wishes were not quite realised and we lost three of our four matches 0-2 (to St Mary’s), 0-1 (to Leighton Park) and 0-1 (to Pangbourne). However by our fourth game we were determined not to let a goal slip by. Our passing was, at times, enviable, and we worked seamlessly together as a team. The final score was 0-0, but not losing was in itself a victory. Although we were disappointed not to be able to perform our goal celebrations that we had optimistically planned, it was a fun-filled day and a great last (outdoor) hurrah for many of the team in Year 13. We finished the day by practising our hitting skills with acorns - possibly a new drill in the making.

Thank you to Mr Simmonds and Mrs Hearn for taking us and for your unwavering support, and to the team for being so fun - let’s bring the same enthusiasm and energy to the indoor fixtures!
