In July 2025, I was selected by the UK-German Connection to go on a two-week-long trip to Nuremberg, Germany, which was where the post-WWII trials took place. 

UK-German Connection is an organisation funded by the German and UK governments to foster a closer connection between the youth of these countries, offering intercultural opportunities, and facilitating connections between schools, youth groups and young people themselves in both countries.

Over 100 students of our new Year 7 intake attended a 2-day summer school at Kendrick during the summer holidays to give them an introduction and welcome to life at Kendrick before starting in September. 

The students enjoyed taster sessions in computer coding and maths; and also took part in a solar system experiment and a flame test in science; and a positive role model task in the library. The second day saw students discovering their way around the school in an orienteering session, and also enjoying some Team Building Skills Games and a session entitled “What Makes Me Me?” 

Our Head of Classics, Mr Duncan, along with Mrs Nicholson, took a group of 20 enthusiastic Year 8 students to a 'Classics For All Day' at Reading University.  Hosted by the Classics department of Reading University, in partnership with 'Classics for All', it is part of the university's wider outreach program to local schools and aims to promote the teaching of classics in schools.  The event offers interactive sessions, object handling, and talks to provide a taste of university life and spark interest in Classics.

From 29th June to 4th July, the Army section of the Reading School CCF (RSCCF) were privileged to have our annual camp at Longmoor Training Area. Run by the Cadet Training Team for Headquarters South East, the week was jam-packed with new experiences and fun activities, while fostering a strong community spirit amongst the Kendrick army section cadets in the process. We would like to thank all the Cadet Force Adult Volunteers involved for supporting RSCCF, its Kendrick cadets and, for their hard work and dedication in organising this camp for us all.

Over 100 students from Years 2-6 from local primary schools were treated to an afternoon of music at Kendrick led by our Head of Music & Drama, Mrs Cooper, and supported by Miss Rodrigues and three of our wonderful Year 11 and Sixth Form A Level students.

When we look back on this year’s Creative Arts Festival, it makes us so proud to see what our students and staff are capable of.

There were fantastic student-led dance workshops, our stunning Summer Concert including our Y9 Choir, excellent pop-up drama performances, the magnificent anthology launch of “Movement” and our exquisite Harp and Percussion Performer Series, which catered for intermediate and advanced students in and around Reading.
