    • Kendrick Poets' Society Second Anthology Launch

      On Monday 27th June, we launched our second Kendrick Poets’ Society Anthology. We were delighted to see family and friends join us for this special occasion. Our poets showcased their exceptional poems with the audience and moved many people with the power of their words as they read their poems on stage. They were passionate, talented and excellent.     • Kendrick Vs Queen Anne's Chess Competition

      On Wednesday 14th June, a team of ten Kendrick students went to play a chess competition against a team from Queen Anne’s School in Caversham. This was Kendrick’s first chess competition against another school in over 10 years, and the results did not disappoint.  

      Students from different Year groups represented Kendrick, these included Divija and Joanne from Year 7, Avika, Saswathi and Abi from Year 8, Paris, Lulu and Kaya from Year 9, and Arushi and Zunairah from Year 10.  Kendrick won seven out of the ten games played against Queen Anne’s.

    • Year 8 Bushcraft Trip 2022

      The Year 8s had a great trip to Bushcraft, learnt and mastered many skills including making a fire, working together as a team, making use of natural resources and much more!!

      We hope that we get more opportunities like this in the future to spend some quality time away from our phones and enjoy the natural beauty of our world.

    • BBC Young Dancer 2022 - Adhya's Amazing Experience

      BBC Young Dancer is a dance competition open to dancers of all styles from all over the UK providing them an opportunity to showcase their dance skills. I first got to know about this competition in 2017 when I watched the South Asian category final and the main finals on television. I was so inspired by the dancers, I decided to apply in 2021. On the 25th of April 2022, I was awarded the title “BBC Young Dancer 2022”.

      This year the theme for the 2022 Holocaust Memorial Day was One Day.  One Day could mean a specific day, it could also be One Day in history, One Day when life changed (for better or for worse), One Day at a time or One Day in the future.

    • Upcycling Competition

      The idea for an upcycling competition came from one of the parents who help in the Second Hand Uniform shop.  We wanted to raise the profile of the Second Hand Uniform shop, whilst making use of uniform items that for one reason or another weren’t suitable to sell in the shop.

    • Adhya Shastry - Winner of BBC Young Dancer 2022

      Huge congratulations to Adhya Shastry Year 12 who won BBC Young Dancer of the Year 2022.  The grand final for BBC Young Dancer 2022 saw 10 talented dancers between the ages of 17 and 24 compete for the coveted title at London’s iconic Roundhouse.

    • Years 10-13 House Chess 2022

      With a great turnout of over 30 contestants, this year's House Chess on Wednesday 6th May, for Years 10-13 was a great success. Abilities ranged from experienced chess players to complete beginners, but everyone was able to have a go, receiving one house point for participation in this event. A second house point was awarded if a student won their match, and unfinished matches at the end of second break were adjudicated, to determine who won.

    • Mental Health Awareness Week 9th - 15th May

      For Mental Health Awareness Week this year, we're raising awareness of the impact of loneliness on our mental wellbeing and the practical steps we can take to address it.  Loneliness is affecting more and more of us and has had a huge impact on our physical and mental health during the pandemic.  Reducing loneliness is a major step towards a mentally healthy society.

      As always, there are a number of activities that will take place next week and information will be sent to students about this very important issue that affects everyone’s life.

      Before Easter, our very own Frau Mueller gave us an inspiring and insightful presentation on what it means to be truly aware of our periods and how we can harness our menstrual cycle power. This included acknowledging cultural stigmas and taboos on what periods have meant in the past and what they mean today as well as how to prepare for them.

    • Film Evening: Sonnenallee

      On Thursday 7th April, A Level German students from Kendrick School and Reading Boys had the opportunity to attend a German film evening at school, where we watched the film ‘Sonnenallee’.  Also known as ‘Sun Alley’, Sonnenallee is the name of a street in Berlin, which was divided in 1961 by the building of the Berlin Wall, with part of the street in Neukoeln split from the section in the east, in the Baumschulenweg neighbourhood.
