  • Kendrick Talent at the BBC Proms 2025

Each year, the Royal Albert Hall hosts an eclectic mix of musical performances as part of its spectacular BBC Proms series. With music from well-known composers such as Beethoven and Elgar, to some artists you may be surprised to see there, such as that of Bill Bailey and Soul Revolution with Trevor Nelson.

We are incredibly proud to say that there have been students past and present involved in this year's set of programmes.

From the astounding Chineke! Orchestra founded by former student and double bassist, Chi-Chi Nwanoku, which received rapturous applause; Yijia Cui, another former student and double bassist, who performed Shostakovich's 5th Symphony from memory as part of the Aurora Orchestra; and Olivia in Year 12, a Music student and harpist, who played as part of the 160-strong National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.

She said this of her experience: "Playing as part of the NYO is an amazing experience as you get to meet a lot of phenomenal musicians from all different backgrounds but all of whom share a real love and passion for music and orchestral playing. You get to play some very challenging music, but it's very rewarding and the Royal Albert Hall is an incredible place to perform in too!"

As part of the 2025 Last Night of the Proms, the trumpeter Alison Balsom (whom one of our practice rooms is named after), played her last ever performance. You can view this on BBC iPlayer.

Here is where you can find out more about these performances and catch them again on the iPlayer:
