Widening Horizons In School Event

We were delighted to welcome into Kendrick school some students from Primary School Years 3, 4 and 5 from our Widening Horizons Programme, who, supported by some of our older Kendrick students, took part in some exciting workshops.
Over 40 students and their families attended and Year 3 had an exciting library session led by some of our Year 12 students and focused around the Roald Dahl book “Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.” Year 4 donned lab coats and carried out an exciting fruit DNA extraction experiment in one of our science labs; and the Year 5 Book Club continued with students discussing and writing reviews of books and who were also able to borrow another book to take away until our next Book Club session in May.
Their parents enjoyed refreshments in our conservatory and were able to chat with some of our staff.
It was a lovely and enjoyable session thoroughly enjoyed by all!
Through our outreach work, we work with children and local primary schools to raise the aspirations of local children.
