  • Pi Representation Competition 2026

    The Pi Representation Competition 2026 is a creative Maths competition hosted by Think Maths to celebrate Pi Day, which was on 14th March 2026.  Students are challenged to display the mathematical constant π (3.14159...) using creative formats rather than standard numbers. Submissions are made in mediums such as visual art, computer code, music, poetry, and textiles.

    Emma, in Year 9, was a runner-up in the "Year 9 and older" category.  Emma describes her entry below:

    For my competition entry, I decided to take a creative approach to creating data visualisation. Using Procreate, a digital art app, I illustrated a city skyline where the heights and structures are entirely determined by the first 120 digits of pi. It was a challenging but rewarding process to turn a string of numbers into a cohesive piece of art.
