  • Light and Dark Creative Writing Anthology

The latest school creative writing anthology, 'Light and Dark', was launched on Tuesday 30th June with a special event in the library featuring readings of students' stories. This anthology was produced by our student-led Creative Writing Society, led by a committed group of Year 10 students: Eshaal, Savni, Roberta, Yiwen, Noemi, Harleen and Megan, and supported by Dr Button. As well as writing their own stories, they have mentored younger writers, editing and giving feedback on their work, which has now been published in this beautifully designed anthology.

Adhvika in Year 9, said this: "Creative Writing is one of the greatest sources of joy in the world. Stories have been used for centuries, told over campfires to widened eyes and teary ones to make the nights seem just that bit warmer. I feel so incredibly lucky to have been able to participate in this art form through the Creative Writing Society, led by Year 10 students. Through patience, talent, meticulous editing and chocolate biscuits, the CWS aided our writing journeys from start to end, ensuring they were crafted to the highest standards. The best part about it is that although our stories underwent editing and critiques, they were handled in a way that preserved the authenticity of the writer, because every writer has nuances in their writing that make it worth reading. The Creative Writing Society does not just use those nuances, they preserve them and channel them in a way that makes every story special. I am so thankful to the whole Creative Writing team for their talent, compassion and tact, helping us inspire readers into creating stories of their own."

Congratulations to all our writers and editors!
