Mila Plays Bridge at House of Lords

Mila really enjoyed her bridge match at the House of Lords. She is pictured playing against Lord Hamilton and Lord Razzall. Mila’s team won, which was an extra bonus! And they were the only team with state school students on it!
The English Bridge Education Director wrote a short piece about the event:
Dame Tessa Blackstone invited three teams of four junior players to compete against members of the House of Lords. Mila was selected in recognition of her dedication to junior bridge and her commitment to running the school's bridge club. She was partnered by Alex, who is on the point of setting up a school bridge club in Bristol.
Mila and Alex produced an excellent performance throughout the afternoon and won the competition. They were also fortunate to have as teammates two members of the England Under-16 team, who are currently competing in the European Youth Bridge Championships in Riga, Latvia. With the impressive progress Mila has made over the past year, she is on course to challenge for a place in the England Under-16 in the near future.
Bridge has far more in common with chess than with traditional card games. It is enjoyable to learn yet is highly technical. We hope Mila's success will inspire many more Kendrick School pupils to take up the game when the new school year begins in September.
At the table with Mila, were Alex, her bridge partner, Lord Razzall, and Lord Hamilton, who was also Parliamentary Private Secretary to Margaret Thatcher.
