  • Lower School Chamber Concert - May 2025

Last month saw the return of the ever-popular Lower School Chamber Concert, featuring solo, duet and trio performances, as well as those in bands from Years 7-9. It is a great opportunity for students to perform music of their choosing from a range of genres and styles throughout musical history. For some, this may be their first public performance on stage, and for others, it gives them a chance to showcase the progress they have made in becoming accomplished musicians.

Throughout the evening, the audience were treated to vocal performances such as ‘Dernière Danse’ by Indila, sung eloquently by Yilan and ‘Back to Black’ by Amy Winehouse, sung in beautiful harmony by Laura and Elsie.

These performances were contrasted by instrumental pieces from the extraordinarily talented musicians, Chelsea (on flute), Anika (on Carnatic violin) and Natasha and Eleanor (on saxophone and piano), performing ‘Hypnosis’ by Ian Clarke, ‘Sara Sara Samaye’ by Sri Thyagaraja, and ‘And Everything is Still’ by Andy Scott respectively.

We were also delighted to hear from a band singing ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ by Oasis, and a student, Aasritha, who composed and performed her own song, ‘Look Alright’ which challenged us to ask people how they truly are, and then do it once again, ensuring we look out for those who may appear ‘alright’ on the surface.

As always, our students mesmerised and surprised us with their musical talent, and we enjoy seeing how they continue to grow in confidence and maturity, as well as the love and support they show for one another.
