Chess Club has thrived this term with players from every year from Year 7 to Year 12 taking part. The standard of play has been steadily improving, with more experienced players inspiring those new to the finer points of the game.
We hope you enjoy watching the Christmas concert staff and students have been working on this term. At just over 45 minutes, it can be enjoyed during a relaxing evening with the family, or whenever you like.
Wishing you all a happy and healthy festive season, and thank you for your continued support.
Kendrick School Music Department
September 2021 saw over 225 students sign up to audition for and to be a part of our upcoming production of Legally Blonde. This award-winning musical is based on the much-loved film of the same name, following the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Action-packed and exploding with memorable songs and dynamic dances, this musical is so much fun, it should be illegal!
This week, students throughout the school have been putting their general knowledge to the test in our House University Challenge. There was fierce competition amongst the Houses with the final taking place on Thursday between the Sidmouth University Team and the Cedars Challenge Team. After a tense round of difficult questions the team that came out on top was… Sidmouth!
Congratulations to Medha, Inakshi, Ayami and Nandini on claiming the title for Sidmouth and ending an eight-year Cedars streak.
Earlier this year the House Committee introduced House Poetry with the inaugural theme of “Community”. At Kendrick, our community is an integral part of school life, particularly for our houses, and the House Committee wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate it and all it contributes to our school. Especially during these trying times, we gratefully acknowledge the Kendrick community for supporting our students in our everyday lives.
Lebkuchen, Stollen, Plaetzchen, Vanillekipferl – who would not like some homemade German Christmas delights for the festive season?
The Year 11 German students rose to the challenge at the beginning of December and baked delicious Lebkuchenplaetzchen.
In the spirit of spreading kindness, the Kendrick Library advent calendar was opened on Wednesday 01 December and will continue each day on the lead up to Christmas. Every morning during registration we are treated to a kindness quote to think about for the day, beginning with:
‘No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.’ – Aesop
