House Chess for Years 8 and 9 took place on Tuesday 25^th January during 2^nd break in the Hall. 

It was very well attended with nearly 30 students taking part, all playing one or more matches against opponents from different houses. All received house points for participation and an extra point for any won games. All these points go towards the House cup.  There were an equal number of participants from each house and across both year groups. 

We are very pleased to report that one of our Y13 A Level English Literature students, Abi Marett, has recently had an article published in the emag, the Magazine for Advanced Level English.  This is a publication aimed at A Level and undergraduate English Literature students.  Her article was on soliloquys in Shakespeare’s Hamlet, which is one of the current A Level texts.  It was chosen for publication due to its detailed, insightful and lucid exploration of Shakespeare’s complex themes and techniques, and its fluently constructed argument. 

On 4th of December, a group of Kendrick students participated in and won the Regional UK Space Design Competition. It was a jam-packed, full day event run by Imperial College London. The students were given a press release and a 'Request for Proposal' was made. The participants had to meet the criteria as much as possible in order to succeed. Our project was to design an efficient vehicle suitable for business travellers in the future in order to continue working effectively and comfortably whilst they travelled between Earth and Mars. Subsequently, we had to present this idea to a group of clients, namely The Foundation Society.
