Year 7 Bookbuzz Scheme

Bookbuzz is a reading programme from BookTrust that aims to help schools inspire a love of reading in 11 to 13-year-olds.

Every year here at Kendrick, our generous Kendrick Parents Society (KPS) pays for this opportunity for our Year 7 cohort, allowing us to give these students the opportunity to choose their own book to take home and keep from a list of 17 titles. They are all carefully selected by a panel of experts to ensure quality, suitability and to encourage reading for pleasure.

Each Year 7 form has already spent two of their English lessons in the library with their teacher and one of our librarians where they learnt all about libraries and the services our school library offers them. They worked through a Library Induction booklet to familiarise themselves with the library systems and were presented with their own library card.

The book selections have now been made from the titles shown in the photograph and hopefully each student will be presented with their chosen book next month.

Thank you to the Kendrick Parents Society for funding this scheme for our students.
