'Reflections in Ramadan' Poetry Competition

In light of the special month of Ramadan, the English Department organised a writing competition with the theme of 'Reflections in Ramadan'. Ramadan is an important month in the Islamic calendar, when Muslims everywhere begin a month of fasting, prayer and reflection on their spiritual life and journey.

There were some beautifully written and thoughtful entries. The winner was Hana in Year 7, who has written a poem reflecting on what Ramadan means to her and how it has a unifying force. It is eloquently written and reflects the gentle nature of Ramadan alongside the encouragement it gives to be brave, honest, generous, and humble when trying to better ourselves and help our communities.

You can find a copy of the poem here
