World Book Day Celebrations 2024

As always, here at Kendrick we celebrated World Book Day ALL week in the library. We have been thoroughly enjoying our Agatha Christie puzzle and have made great progress over the week during break times.

Our Guess who? Competition also proved very popular with students trying to guess the staff members by their childhood photograph and a picture of their favourite book. With 20 to guess, some were harder than others!

On Wednesday we celebrated with a craft activity. One of our students taught us how to make origami hearts and butterflies which they will see again on the library window as part of our Spring display – Flutter your way through a good book!

On Thursday, we held a book sale to raise funds for the Children’s Ward at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. It was very busy in the library with lots of happy customers taking away pre-loved books to enjoy. We raised £60, so many thanks to all of those who participated.

We rounded off the week on Friday with our first ever Speed Dating with a book event! All those who participated had a fabulous time and many went away swapping books and borrowing new titles from the library.

Each person had just one minute to convince their ‘date’ (the person opposite them) to read the book they were recommending, and then it was 'time to change' to try it again with a new partner!

Special thanks to Mrs Williamson and Mr Dilley (Head of English) for joining in the fun!
