  • Kendrick Student Leaders

The 18 Kendrick Student Leaders (KSL) make up four separate committees, elected by students and staff, to represent their school. The four committees are: Curriculum and Current Affairs Committee, Student Wellbeing Committee, Community Committee and House System Committee.

These students undertake specific roles working with younger students in the school organising and supporting inter-year and interhouse events in school. The KSL has an important role in representing the school, both in school and at out of school events. They are excellent Ambassadors for the school.

    Curriculum and Current Affairs Committee

We are honoured to serve on the 2026-27 Curriculum and Current Affairs Committee.
This year, we will continue the Kendrick School of Thought Podcast and Curriculum and Current Affairs Club, alongside reintroducing the Kendrick Gazette, to ensure current affairs is both meaningful and accessible to all students.

We are also excited to introduce concise news summaries, CCA-led events, and collaborations with other committees. These initiatives will provide opportunities to consider the significance of events affecting people across the world, and more locally.

We hope to create an environment where students feel informed, empowered, and heard.

    Student Wellbeing Committee

We are honoured to be your Wellbeing Committee of 2026-7 and to be entrusted with the task of making sure that students feel empowered, heard and safe. This year, we aim to make student wellbeing at Kendrick an active and involved process where support for one another can cultivate a healthy school environment, as well as striving to create opportunities for de-stressing amidst a hub of busy learning.

We are looking forward immensely to serving our school community and hope to equip others with skills and habits that will help them to flourish, both at school and beyond.

    Community Committee

We are incredibly honoured to have been chosen as your new Community Committee for 2026-2027. Whilst Kendrick School is known for its academic excellence and outstanding results, it is our vibrant and beautifully supportive community that truly makes us special. We promise to continue to strengthen this spirit, and to bring the school together through traditional Kendrick events such as Fringe Fortnight and Comic Relief week. This year, we will also be introducing new initiatives for everyone to look forward to, including new cultural events to celebrate the diversity of our school. As a team, we are fully committed to ensuring every student feels a genuine sense of belonging.

In order to give back to the wider Reading community and help those less fortunate than us, we will also work hard to support our chosen charities as well as local outreach projects. We hope you will get involved in the exciting fundraising activities we have planned, as they are sure to be lots of fun!

    Cedars House Captains

Hello everyone! We are so thrilled to be the Cedars House Captains for 2026–27!

After our victory in winning the House Cup last year, we’re really keen to build on this momentum by getting as many people participating as possible and aiming to keep the success rolling. This year, we plan to continue all our favourite house events that we know and love, especially House Music, Drama and Sports Day (where we have the chance to seize a win), as well as introducing some new ideas—so keep an eye out for what’s coming up!

We hope that everyone can find something they enjoy, feel included, and have the chance to contribute to our house in their own way—whether that’s performing, competing, organising or simply showing up to support your fellow Cedars Seals.

We’re excited to see lots of you getting involved throughout the year, building the Cedars spirit together and working as a team to keep the House Cup blue for another year!

    Palmer House Captains

Hello everyone, we are incredibly enthusiastic about being the 2026–2027 Palmer House Captains!

Following on from the success of House Drama and House University Challenge, we are motivated to keep the momentum going and aim to come out victorious in plenty more events. In the coming year, we look forward to introducing new opportunities (e.g. House Art and Spelling Bee) as a chance for everyone to showcase their talents. We would also like to strengthen our sense of community further by focusing more on the House Family system, which has already been a great way of connecting everyone from across year groups.

We hope to see all of you at some point throughout the upcoming year – getting involved, enjoying yourselves and earning points – so together we can not only have an unforgettable year but even bring the House Cup home!

    Sidmouth House Captains

Hi everyone! We are so excited to be the new Sidmouth House Captains for 2026–2027!

As the reigning champions of Sports Day, we are hoping to continue our winning streak, and hopefully score even more victories in some of our classic Kendrick events, such as House Drama and Music. We’ve got some big ideas planned this year – from House Relay Obstacle Course to House Fashion Show – and we look forward to working with everyone across the school to have some fun (and, of course, some healthy competition!).

We want to make sure that everyone, from years 7 to 13, can find an event for them. So whether it’s House University Challenge or House Mariokart, we look forward to fostering our House spirit this year, so come along and make this our best year yet!
