Mai-Po Wan

Mai-Po Wan is an innovative thought leader and expert in the trends changing the nature of work, workplace technology and the modern workforce. She focuses on how these changes are causing a fundamental and disruptive shift in the way organizations must engage with their people, by delivering amazing workforce experiences.

Mai-Po is currently Head of Product Marketing for Sage People, a cloud HR & People system that helps multi-national organizations transform how they attract, manage and engage their workforce. In this role, she is responsible for the growth strategy, product vision and global positioning for Sage People, and is passionate about showcasing the product and her colleagues in the best possible way.

Mai-Po left Kendrick in 2002 after completing A-levels in Maths, Further Maths, History and Economics, to study Mathematics at Reading University. After realizing that her passions lay elsewhere, Mai-Po explored a career in Learning and Development, where she found a real joy in helping colleagues push the boundaries of learning, to realize their true potential.

Being a life-long student, Mai-Po took a short career break in 2009 to study further, for personal development and fulfilment; she has since completed over 500 credits with Open University, including an Open Honour’s degree and post-graduate diploma in Mathematics Education. She has also qualified as a NLP Practitioner, and is currently studying to become a Master Practitioner.

Since 2010, Mai-Po has worked in the Human Capital Management (HCM) software industry, across a variety of HR and Marketing roles, always driven to inspire audiences with engaging content and storytelling. She’s launched a variety of global HCM solutions to market, at Ceridian, SD Worx, and most recently, Sage, a FTSE 100 organization. Mai-Po is a huge advocate of supporting young professionals and promoting careers in STEM, and uses some of her time to mentor colleagues looking to progress their career.

Mai-Po spends as much of her time volunteering as she can. From 2012-2016, she helped to raise funds and awareness for The PayBack Foundation, a charity that provides funding and aid support for disadvantaged children. Currently, Mai-Po is an ambassador for Sage Foundation, which provides support to non-profit organizations and charities to help people reach their potential. Key charities include Help for Heroes and the Invictus Games, as well as many local groups.

In her spare time, Mai-Po is a member of the hockey sporting family; she’s been a coach and mentor for young players and umpires, and captains the Ladies 1st XI at Sonning Hockey Club. She has represented England at a junior level, both as a player and umpire.

Mai-Po is most proud to be a volunteer and playing ambassador for Hockey for Heroes, a charitable hockey organization that raises awareness and support for Help for Heroes, supporting those who have served in the military, and returned from service needing emotional and/or physical support. She provides marketing support for the squad, and plays for the women’s team. In 2017, Mai-Po was part of the men's squad that completed a 10-day tour, walking 200 miles and playing 30 matches, whilst raising over £65,000. She is currently planning the 2018 women’s tour, which will involve 36 hockey matches and military endurance challenges over an 8-day period.

Finally, Mai-Po loves to test her limits with the odd challenge; her favourite achievements include jumping the world’s highest bungee jump in Macau, completing over 10 Tough Mudder events, and attempting the 5 Peaks Challenge in 48 hours.
