Required for September 2023, a well-qualified and enthusiastic Subject Leader of English at this successful 11-18 girls’ grammar school in Reading. English is taught throughout the school and students are highly motivated, creative and engaged.

This position would suit a teacher ready to take on a key departmental leadership position or looking to develop their career in a unique and high achieving school.  We are looking for someone who is inspirational, creative and forward thinking to develop the vision for English, both within and beyond the classroom.  This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with energy and vision to join the school and to be a member of our Extended Senior Leadership Team, contributing and participating in whole school development.

English is a popular and highly valued subject at Kendrick School. Music plays an important role in the life of Kendrick. Approximately 70% of students learn an instrument privately, at school, or with Berkshire Maestros. Central to the work of everyone in the Music Department is a desire to encourage students to give their very best at whatever level they can achieve.  The result is a large number of students involved in musical activities of one kind or another and of a very high quality, culminating in the almost professional standards of some of the most able students.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION (PE) TEACHER FOR SEPTEMBER 2023

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, innovative and well qualified Teacher of Physical Education.  Applicants need to be able to teach PE at KS3, GCSE and A Level. This position would suit either an experienced practitioner or an early careers teacher. Kendrick School has an excellent record of developing ECTs, and the successful candidate would be joining a supportive and experienced department.

Physical education is an important subject in the development of young people. It enables them to develop a wide range of skills including communication, team-work, leadership, analysis, understanding of tactics and strategies, personal endeavour, decision making and knowledge of a wide range of sports. In lessons students are given an understanding of how the body works and the importance of leading a healthy active lifestyle with the aim that they develop a habit of sport for life. We believe that sport is inclusive and there is a sport for everyone and we aim to encourage young people to find that interest and passion and continue this beyond school.

This position will offer the opportunity to contribute to new innovations and developments in the PE Department, in terms of both curriculum design and learning and teaching as the school expands.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, both within and beyond the classroom.
